The 2025 harvest at Joseph Phelps Vineyards commenced on August 20th with the early morning picking of Scheurebe and Sauvignon Blanc from the estate’s Home Ranch in St. Helena. Crews began their work in the pre-dawn darkness at 3 AM, taking advantage of the cool temperatures to preserve the grapes’ delicate aromatics and acidity. The growing season proved favorable, with adequate rainfall providing essential moisture and no damaging frost events threatening the vines. Summer temperatures remained warm but moderate, avoiding the excessive heat that can stress the vines and compromise fruit quality. These ideal conditions have resulted in well-sized berries with excellent development, setting the stage for what promises to be an exceptional vintage.
