1978 Cabernet Sauvignon, Backus Vineyard

Winemaker Notes The vintage gave us fruit of remarkable balance and the wine is well-structured, flavorful and certain to continue improving for many years to come.

Winemaking Data Grapes were harvested at an average of 23.9° Brix, conventionally fermented, and aged 24 months in 60-gallon French oak barrels before being blended, fined with fresh egg whites, and bottled in February 1980.

Blend and Grape Sources 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2.5% Merlot, and 2.5% Cabernet Franc from estate-owned vineyards and independent growers.

Appellation Oakville, Napa Valley
