2018 Viognier, Napa Valley
Winemaker Notes The 2018 Viognier is a heady, generous offering with vibrant aromatics of gardenia and citrus blossom followed by ripe apricot, savory thyme, tangy tropical fruit and sweet honey notes throughout the creamy palate for a lingering finish.
Winemaking Data Grapes were pressed cold followed by barrel fermentation with native yeast. The Viognier was aged for seven months in one- to two-year-old French oak puncheons before bottling in May 2019. The lees were stirred during fermentation enhancing the textured mouthfeel while balancing the lively acidity.
Vintage Notes The 2018 growing season in Napa Valley was marked by cool, mild weather. The cooler than normal spring delayed budbreak, bloom and veraison by two weeks compared to the previous five years. The mild weather patterns in August and September allowed for excellent overall phenological ripening and development of a complex aroma and flavor profile.
