2018 Sauvignon Blanc, Napa Valley
Winemaker Notes The 2018 Sauvignon Blanc possesses heady aromatics of white flower, honeysuckle and hints of ripe honeydew melon. Fresh and focused with bright minerality and lingering notes of Granny Smith apple, lime and candied lemon peel.
Winemaking Data The grapes were picked in the cool pre-dawn hours of the morning and pressed to barrel for native yeast fermentation. The wine was aged for seven months in 30% new and 70% once used French oak puncheons from coopers Dargaud Jaegle, Damy and Ermitage. The lees were stirred during and after fermentation resulting in a texturally layered wine with light oak influence.
Vintage Notes The 2018 growing season in Napa Valley was marked by cool, mild weather. The cooler than normal spring delayed budbreak, bloom and veraison by two weeks compared to the previous five years. The mild weather patterns in August and September allowed for excellent overall phenological ripening and development of a complex aroma and flavor profile.
