2017 Ovation Sparkling Wine
Winemaker Notes The 2017 Ovation Sparkling Wine opens with stone fruit essence, ripe green apple, lemon peel and toasted brioche followed by light floral and flinty notes. Texturally refined and creamy with layers of lemon custard, apricot, and a pleasing saline character. A wine of great acid structure and tension with additional flavor benefits following time in the cellar.

The blend was assembled from four blocks within our Pastorale Vineyard in Freestone on the western Sonoma Coast. The Chardonnay blocks include clone 2A, Mt. Eden, Hyde Old Wente, Montreachet, Maro, and Old and New Calera. The Pinot Noir blocks are comprised of clone 777 and clone 828.
Vintage Notes The 2017 Sonoma Coast growing season saw much needed record-breaking winter rainfall which helped replenish our groundwater and the vines. The moderate start to the season helped the vines return to a more traditional mid-March bud break, followed by a normal bloom period and summer growing season. Overall, 2017 was warm due to summer heat spikes and an accelerated ripening just prior to picking. The result was more balanced phenolic development in our Chardonnay and Pinot Noir with bright acidity and concentrated flavors.
