Appellation Sonoma Coast
Aging/Cooperage Thirteen-fourteen months in new and two- to three-year-old French oak barrels.
Winemaking Data The Pastorale Vineyard bottlings are selected from 4-6 blocks planted to a mix of Calera and clone 777. All clusters are hand-sorted in order to separate the best for whole cluster fermentation. The wines are typically 30% whole cluster fermented, lending spice, texture and structure. Additionally, 20-25% of the grapes are fermented in oak open-top fermenters adding a rounder mouth feel to the finished blend.
Winemaker Notes Wines from our Pastorale Vineyard located on the western Sonoma Coast display floral and red fruit aromas with pepper spice, red currant, tangy Bing cherry and ripe plum notes.

2013 Vintage: The 2013 Pinot Noir Pastorale Vineyard used a slightly higher percentage of whole clusters and offers dark raspberries, sweet and sour cherries, and beautiful, fragrant aromatics with a hint of wild blueberries as well. This looks to be a successful 2013 that should drink nicely for 7-8 years. -RP (2015)

2014 Vintage: This is a flowery, raspberry-scented Pinot Noir with some leafy underbrush notes, great fruit on the attack, medium to full body, and plenty of Burgundian character. -RP (2016)

2015 Vintage: The 2015 Pastorale has a fragrant nose of violets and dried bay leaves over a core of red currant jelly, kirsch and pomegranate. Medium-bodied, it has a solid frame of ripe, fine-grained tannins and lively acid supporting the intense red fruit and earthy flavor layers. -LPB (2017)
