Harvest 2019
The 2019 Joseph Phelps Napa Valley and Sonoma Coast harvests are well underway. Fruit is picked at night and delivered to each winery at dawn for processing.
Phelps began its 2019 Napa Valley harvest with the picking of Sauvignon Blanc on August 28th. Before the sun crested above the Vaca Mountains to the East, the Vineyard Team was hard at work picking Sauvignon Blanc at the Joseph Phelps Home Ranch Vineyard in St. Helena.
Following the morning's pick, staff and Phelps family members joined together for a toast with speeches from winery President, Clarice Turner, and Vice President of Operations, Sam Burton.
The Phelps 2019 Sonoma Coast harvest began with the picking of Pinot Noir on September 5th. The Vineyard Team was hard at work picking select blocks at the winery's Freestone estate early on a typically cool, foggy morning.
Following the pick, staff and Phelps family members joined together for a toast with speeches from winery President, Clarice Turner, VP of Operations, Sam Burton, and Bill Phelps.
The Sonoma Coast harvest will complete by mid-October and the team will finish picking in Napa Valley a few weeks later. The 2019 wines show a purity of fruit with rich color and concentration at this young stage. Cheers to another outstanding vintage!
