James Suckling Top 100 American Wines of 2018

James Suckling names 2015 Joseph Phelps Pastorale Vineyard Pinot Noir and 2015 Insignia to his Top 100 American Wines of 2018 list. Congratulations to our vineyard and winemaking teams!

#80 – 2015 Joseph Phelps Pinot Noir, Pastorale Vineyard
96 points “A very stylishly assembled pinot that has a wealth of ripe red cherries framed in subtle, savory smoked meats and oak-derived spices. Has a sappy edge, too. The palate has a seamless fluid feel. A really explosive finish with silky texture and bright, energetic red-fruit flavors. Drink or hold.”

#83 – 2015 Joseph Phelps Insignia
96 points “The subtlety and brightness to this one. Blackcurrants, fresh mint and sage undertones. Full-bodied, yet so tight and reserved. Linear and very racy with fantastic blackberries, crush stones and lead pencil. Love the finish. This is a wine that needs three to four years of bottle age. Try in 2022."
